Genre: Action, Drama, Sci-Fi
Duration: 126 minutes
Plot: set in a future where a failed climate-change experiment kills all life on Earth except for a lucky few who boarded the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe, inside which a class system emerges (written by Peter Mouland).
Analysis: how can i accurately describe this movie? If i should have to force myself i would say that it is a modern combination of George Miller's Mad Max and Luc Besson's Banlieue 13. In other words, a relentless manhunt, decorated with many hardcore fighting scenes. However, all these do not take place in a vast wasteland or the dangerous ghettos of Paris but inside some narrow train wagons. The cast consists of well-known actors (such as Chris "Captain America" Evans and Jamie "Tintin" Bell) but the one who really stands out is Tilda Swinton, who lands a trully magnificent performance. But what trully makes Snowpiercer special is its insane scenario. There are plenty moments during which you will shout "no freaking way", believing that what you see can't be correct. Scenes which have no logic or coherence. Lines and reactions which seem to emerge from a drunkard's crazy fantasy.
Nevertheless, you will keep on watching Snowpiercer, desperately struggling to imagine what the next absurd obstacle blocking the hero's path could possibly be or how the hell the movie is going to end. And guess what: you will never even come close in guessing it right.
