PREDESTINATION

To save the future he must protect his past.

Actors: Ethan Hawke, Sarak Snook, Noah Taylor and others

Genre: Drama, Mystery, Thriller, Sci-Fi

Duration: 97 minutes

Plot: the life of an experienced yet lonely time-travelling Temporal Agent. On his final assignment, he must pursue and arrest the one criminal that has eluded him through time.

Analysis: the first time i watched this movie was about two months ago, while chilling out with one of my friends. I remember clearly the bad impression Predestination made to him, even from its first scenes. As you may understand, this is definetely not in favor of the movie. However, what is strongly in its favor is the fact that my friend could not turn his eyes away from the laptop's screen even for a second! Well, being unable to stop watching something you find boring and perplexing is quite impressive, isn't it folks? And yes, this is what this movie does to you.
While not being the most cheerful, entertaining or easy-going film out therePredestination will undoubtedly force you to wait patiently until the end titles, craving to finally understand what the hell this movie was talking about. And, trust me, you will not be dissapointed.

Things to notice:
  • the stellar performance of Sarah Snook (Ethan Hawke is also exceptional but there is no news to that, since we are talking about an actor that hasn't landed a single mediocre performance during his entire career),
  • the mysterious atmosphere, created by the fast-paced direction and the matching soundtrack and
  • the out of this world scenario.

Oscar awards (2015): - (Seriously Academy? Not even a nomination for Original Screenplay?)

Evaluation: 8.4/10

Should be watched tonight if: you are in the mood for experiencing a relentless, time traveling man-hunt between the past and the future, while simultaneously trying to solve the puzzling questions imposed by one of the most innovative, unexpected and unforeseen scenarios of the last decade.
